After receiving hundreds of emails about the Los Zocos Hotel in Lanzarote we decided to investigate and review the 3 star hotel.
The Los Zocos Club hotel or Los Zocos as it is more commonly known is a large 3 star hotel complex in the sunny resort of Costa Teguise, Lanzarote situated 100 metres from the beach, bars and shops giving the hotel a great location.

Our first thoughts on the hotel as we stood outside after spending nearly an hour on a bumpy coach supplied by First Choice which was more like a fairground ride than a luxury coach with the coach going up and down every two minutes like the suspension had gone, was to say the least impressive.
'Los Zocos Not A Bad Little Hotel' |
We loved the outside of the hotel and loved the idea of the location of the hotel with the shops next door and more shops just across the road. The outside of the hotel seemed very clean and as we entered the inside of the hotel, the reception area was very welcoming and clean.
As we booked into the hotel we were welcomed by charming reception staff, which does make a change. A lot of the hotels we have reviewed and we have reviewed hundreds had reception staff that seemed they had no personality and didn’t want to be there but The Locos Hotel was different and the reception staff were warm and welcoming.
After booking in and receiving our all inclusive passes which you have to have your picture taken for (I hope they have destroyed mine as it may scare the children) we were given a map to show us exactly where our hotel room was. Again this was totally different as a lot of the hotels, they give you the room number and directions if you are lucky so this was very professional.
The Los Zocos Hotel, which has 324 apartments, is undergoing a refurbishment, which should be completed by the end of 2011. The apartment blocks have been built in a circle surrounding the large complex and making it easy to get to the pools and entertainment.
After receiving some emails from our Lifestyle Magazine readers complaining about the rooms I have to say that I was worried. Ok I was to be honest; I was very scared that I would be sleeping for two weeks in an unfurnished room counting the days to go home.
When we got to our room I was pleasantly surprised with the large apartment we were given. With there being four of us, we were given a two-bedroom apartment, which had a lounge and a kitchen, which was situated, in the lounge area.
We had received many emails complaining about the rooms but I must say that we had far more emails complementing the rooms giving us a mixed response before our arrival. The only three problems I had with the room was the decorating. According to the receptionist we were given a refurbished room but unfortunately it did seem that someone had rushed the room and not taken care of the decoration and maintenance, as they should have.
In the bedroom there was a ceiling fan, which was great to keep the heat out, but the only problem with that was, there was a great hole next to the ceiling fan making the room seem more like a two star than a three star. This should not have been there and should have been filled up and decorated showing that someone has rushed putting the ceiling fan up and not bothered to decorate.
The next thing that let us down on the room was the television. You have to pay four Euros a day to use the television but unfortunately the picture quality was not great and we found ourselves having to keep turning the station over as for some reason the television was changing channels by itself. Someone else could have caused this in another apartment also having a television set and the signal being sent to our TV set, this needs to be looked into.
